My journey into the world of specialty baking began in 2014 with a life changing Celiac diagnosis. At the time, it felt like a door had slammed shut on one of my greatest joys - well two greatest joys - baking and eating bread! My early attempts at transitioning to gluten free were discouraging. Without wheat flour, the textures and flavors I loved seemed impossible to recreate, and I worried that my passion for baking would have to stay in the past.


For years, I explored different career paths, many, many, career paths, but the kitchen always called me back. I am thrilled to be able to bring delicious gluten free treats to Cobourg that are just as indulgent as their traditional counterparts.


With the unwavering encouragement of my family, what started as a personal hurdle has grown into a dream realized. We are a small, family-run business dedicated to creating delicious baked treats that don't compromise on flavor! Your support means the world to us, and we are so grateful to share our kitchen with you.


The name "Summer Sunrise Bakery", is a tribute to my best friend, Summer, my Yorkie of 15 years who passed away in 2024. She was by my side through every life change, and she remains forever in my heart. Naming the business after her ensures that her bright spirit is a part of every morning and every batch we bake.
